The Kissing Piece

Brooklyn Museum of Art

October 9, 1999

At the Sensation exhibition, we positioned ourselves in front of Damien Hirst's work, A Thousand Years, and began kissing. After eight minutes of continuous kissing, we were interrupted by a woman who asked if we were being paid for our actions. To which we replied "no". She then loudly said that we were filthy and disgusting. We repeated the performance in front of a crowded Chapman brothers' sculpture entitled Zygotic Acceleration. After six minutes, Richard was tapped on the shoulder by a man who said he was bothered by our constant kissing.
