The Uniform Project

October 16, 1999 - October 16, 2012

A performance based activity comprised of two sets of generic work uniforms that I dressed in daily for 13 years. In the Fall/Winter I utilized a long sleeve dark blue shirt and matching blue pants with a black leather belt and black leather boots. In the Spring/Summer I wore a light blue short sleeve shirt for added comfort and mobility.

A simplification of my life

A statement of anti-fashion as fashion

A contextual identity

Generic and anonymous

Distinctive and visible

Versatile - ideal for work or dress

A reminder of my commitment to work

A contradiction

A paradox of presence through absence
